Welcome

Thanks for landing on this blog.  I've gone retro, peak 2010, and decided this is the easiest way to publish my reviews of my favourite podcast around, The Rewatchables.  This is something for me to do to share my thoughts on the pod, the evolution of the pod and the people involved in creating and participating in the pod.

The Rewatchables is produced by The Ringer network which was formed by Bill Simmons, an American Sports writer/podcaster/media mogul and all round "Captain of Industry".  Currently there are 409 episodes of The Rewatchables out there, available on the usual podcast channels.  There are some 2 part episodes and some films are featured more than once.  

The start of the pod was sometime in 2017, when Bill and his mates decided they wanted to pod about their favourite sports movies.  I'm guessing here as obviously I was not privy to their conversations, but I think they realised pretty quickly they had hit onto something that they loved doing and that was really popular and the scope of the pod expanded from sports movies to movies they had loved all their lives.

8 years on and the pod is a juggernaut, it is hugely entertaining, constantly evolving, occasionally frustrating and sometimes baffling but it has never strayed from the initial reason they started it.  Good friends sitting down and talking about something they love and having a whale of a time doing it.

Just for your information, I'm based in the UK.  As such, some cultural references go right over my head but I will try and find out as much as possible what the people on the pod are referring to if it is not obvious.

In the spirit of the pod I will also have some of my own categories that will get used from time to time, some which may appear to be slightly critical, or even snarky, but that will all be posted in the spirit of admiration for this venerable institution.

It's going to take some time, I will be watching the films and then listening to the pod and I have 400+ to get through but I will be approaching it with the words of Quint from Jaws floating through my mind.  "Here's to swimming with bowlegged women!"
